1.  Software Developer

 

Summary:  The successful candidate will lead Software Development while working with our R&D team, statisticians, external software development firms, research partners, and clinical advisors.  

 

They will be responsible for developing and driving our software product vision, design architecture and development, co-ordination of verification, validation and documentation of Cosm software platform.  This includes, but is not limited to, medical imaging software and the implementation of secure and compliant cloud hosting solutions.  This key team member is expected to grow with the company while developing their skillsets and exposure to medical imaging, CAD software, cloud sotware, and ML/AI.

 

This key member of our team will report to Lead Systems Engineer and will be our go-to team member for software product solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead the development of Cosm’s software product pipeline

  • Evaluate feasibility through software prototyping

  • Implement software programs in the area of medical image segmentation and analysis, database architecture design, and data input / extraction to support clinical studies

  • Own strategic development of secure and compliant cloud hosted software platform, patient-centered digital therapeutics, intelligence and analytics

  • Evaluate and co-ordinate outsourcing with external software development companies

  • Develop Software Specifications (scope of work), establish budget targets, and deliver to meet clinical study and product launch schedules

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

●      Expert level software developer (Python and .NET) with experience in cloud-based implementation (Azure or AWS)

●      Medical image processing techniques (e.g. filtering, segmentation, co-registration, spatial transforms)

●      Previous work experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning will be an asset

●      Ability to develop software processes which improve effectiveness and efficiency while meeting quality management system requirements for a medical device manufacturer

●      Gathers, organizes and presents information in a clear, concise, and compelling manner

●      Meets commitments on time with effective time management skills

 

Education and Experience:

●      Master’s or PhD degree in computer science, computer or software engineering, or equivalent

●      Minimum 5-year experience in image processing and software development related activities in a regulated environment

●      Experience developing cloud hosted healthcare software solutions

●      Related experience in building an automated system integrating various software components

●      Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively

●      Experience with software risk analysis, and software verification & validation

●      Understanding of challenges in developing safety critical code and demonstrating requirements traceability

●      Experience with medical software development under FDA and ISO 13485, and familiarity with HIPPA and IEC 62304 development methodology will be an asset

●      Passion to contribute to cutting-edge medical device development

2.  Research & Partnership Manager

 

Summary:  The successful candidate will lead our Clinical Research efforts while working alongside our R&D team, clinical advisors, study sites, and external R&D partners.  We have three clinical pilot studies planned for 2020 (one already under way) and are looking for a skilled clinical researcher to drive value in these investments and their data outputs. 

 

They will be responsible for developing and driving our clinical research pipeline which includes clinical research administration, grant writing, and data analysis / journal publication writing responsibilities.  As a startup, we’re looking a data-focused story-teller that can also excel at building relationships with granting organization for research alongside excel at product management for a cloud-based healthcare app and clinical web portal.  This position will provide great exposure to non-dilutive funding sources, digital health, clinical research, women’s pelvic health and allow the successful candidate to grow with the company while developing the science that will help millions of women.

 

This key member of our team will report directly to the CEO and act as our go-to team member for clinical research and digital health!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead the development of Cosm’s clinical research pipeline and define our digital health and cloud software strategy

  • Work with internal and external teams in the synthesis of research protocols, managing clinical research sites, perform data analysis drafting protocols and writing journal publications

  • Manage projects for clinical research and digital health

  • Lead relationship development with non-dilutive capital sources and grant writing efforts

  • Develop requirements documents by working with clinicians, our team, and partner companies for a patient management app and clinical web portal to support clinical research while exploring future commercial opportunities

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Expert level data analysis and technical writing skills with an ability to coalesce insight from complex datasets and win competitive research grant awards in partnership with global leading researchers and key opinion leaders

  • A detail-oriented data-driven mindset with a developed ability to cut through the noise, create clear, concise and compelling stories and influence others

  • Expert level user of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clinicians, researchers, technologists, software developers, engineers and statisticians

  • Gathers, organizes and presents information in a clear, concise, and compelling manner

  • Ability to communicate with transparency and maintain integrity at all times with effective time management skills is required

  • Experience successfully attaining grants for research or non-dilutive capital for startups considered an asset

  • Training and experience in research statistics considered an asset

  • Fluency in Mandarin (Chinese), Spanish, or German considered an asset

 

Education and Experience:

  • Clinical Research Administration, Healthcare IT and patient reported outcomes / real world evidence research background with 3+ years experience required

  • Experience or interest in women’s pelvic health is required

  • MSc, PhD, NP or any clinical designation considered an asset

  • Experience in grant writing and working in clinical research considered an asset

  • Experience in the field of urology and gynecology considered an asset

  • Experience working within an ISO13485 environment considered an asset

3.  Finance & Operations Manager

Summary:  The successful candidate will be a tech and business design savvy individual that’s willing to roll up their sleeves while leading finance and operations at Cosm.  As the company’s first ‘non-technical’ hire with a marketing, business, finance or sales background, they will also support the CEO in preparing for and executing future fundraising rounds. 

 

As a startup, we’re looking for an excel wizard that can help to build the story, business strategy and plans for Cosm’s growth.  We have developed basic startup processes for finance and operations and are looking for a passionate individual to upgrade, maintain, and drive efficiency in our financial reporting and operational processes while ensuring we are planning effective resource allocations for our next stage of growth.  They will be working directly with R&D team and advisors alongside our accounting, legal, and finance consultants and contractors.

 

This position will provide great exposure to women’s health technologies, 3D Printing and manufacturing operations planning, operational excellence in a highly regulated environment, investor and director reporting, and fundraising for a Seed/SeriesA stage tech company.

 

We are looking for a key role member that will report directly to the CEO and act as our go-to team member for operations and finance!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of proformas, financial, market analysis, pricing and competitive reports

  • Responsible for finance department activities including but not limited to bookkeeping, accounts payable, and other finance related activities

  • Key contributor to operational functions including, but not limited to, HR, operational excellence, marketing communications, and website

  • Develop and maintain CRM for investors, customers and patients

  • Assist CEO with growth planning and future fundraising

  • Upgrade and maintain finance and operational reporting and investor data room

  • Build and manage relationships with select investors, healthcare stakeholders, suppliers, contractors and R&D partners

  • Work with team to develop and execute an operational excellence program and promote company mission and vision

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability and desire to grow into a leadership role in finance, operations, and/or marketing

  • A detail-oriented data-driven mindset with a developed ability to influence others by cutting through the noise and creating clear, concise and compelling stories

  • Expert level user of QuickBooks and Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

  • Finance, Auditing, and/or Operational background with 3+ years experience in a startup or top accounting firm required

  • Experience or interest in medical devices and/or women’s health considered is required

  • MBA, PMP, CFA, CA or CPA designation considered an asset

  • Business design and brand design experience considered an asset

  • M&A, Product Management and Marketing experience considered an asset

  • Experience working within an ISO13485 environment considered an asset
